No Condemnation
The UK news this week has been dominated by the alleged behaviour of a television presenter. When we hear of such cases, it’s easy to form an opinion and pass judgement. We may be very quick to show disapproval and deem someone worthy of punishment.
However, God is not like that. The Bible tells us that God is love and that God the Father loved the world so much that he sent his Son, Jesus, to us in human form to deal with all wrongdoing and evil. As a result, we are told that “there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” Those of us who are living in union with Christ are not condemned in any way. God does not see our shortcomings, mistakes and failures, he sees us as perfect, heavenly beings with no faults at all. Yes, we may make mistakes and do things we wish we didn’t, but that’s not what defines us as that’s all been taken care of by Jesus.
So next time you’re tempted to condemn anyone of anything, remember that’s not what God does. Let’s follow the example of Jesus and view others with love, appreciating how great and wonderful they are.
In Christian love,
Anthony
