Where to start?
Hello,
Who cannot be shocked and horrified by events in the Middle East?
Interestingly, Jews and Muslims claim to share a common ancestor, Abraham. Also, both Judaism and Islam attest to the importance of caring for your neighbour in distress, and yet, sadly, hatred seems more evident as we watch what’s happening.
We Christians claim a spiritual descent from the same Abraham through Jesus Christ, who instructed everyone everywhere to love our neighbours as we would love our own life. And, at the same time, to be willing to sacrifice ourselves for them, just as Jesus himself did for all people, no matter what our ethnic or religious background is.
Surely in today’s world Jesus’ action-filled words are somewhere to start.
