Re-starting
Hello,
First thing this morning the news broke that Heathrow airport, Europe’s busiest travel hub, is closed. This was due to a power cut caused by a fire at a nearby electrical substation.
Perhaps, like me, you wondered whether they had a back-up generator that could address the problem. Apparently, there is one, but it would take some time to re-start all the systems involved.
Interestingly, Jesus Christ had a comment about re-starting. It was not about airports and power outages, but it was and is about re-starting our spiritual lives. In the Message rendition of John 3:3 he says, that “Take it from me: Unless a person is born from above, it’s not possible to see what I’m pointing to”. Sometimes Christians call this being born again, but, personally, I like the “from above” thought – the idea that God, who is never closed or unavailable, helps us re-start our lives as we head towards a better future.
Isn’t it reassuring to know that, in this mixed up and dangerous world, we can turn to God and find a new beginning?
Turn to Jesus and be born from above.
Warm regards,
Gavin
