Pomp and Circumstance

Hello,

This week the UK welcomed President Trump for his second state visit – an occasion marked with great pomp and circumstance. All the British newspapers were full of pictures of the formal ceremonies, the impressive displays and the lavish banquet (this was a close as I got, sadly my invitation seems to have got lost in the mail).

As spectacular as the state visit was, it pales in comparison to a time described in my favourite Psalm:

Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice;
let the sea roar, and all that fills it;
let the field exult, and everything in it!
Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy
before the LORD, for he comes,
for he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness,
and the peoples in his faithfulness.
(Psalms 96:11-13 ESV)

The Psalmist is writing about when Christ returns and at last the whole world will recognise Jesus as he truly is: the King of Kings. And the best news? I have already received my invitation (and so have you!).

Warm regards,

Gavin
