Stand up for Jesus
Hello.
One of the headlines that grabbed my attention this week was the US President’s statement that soldiers from other NATO countries had not served on the front line when they had come to the US aid in Afghanistan following the 9/11 attacks on New York and Washington.
His remark drew widespread consternation from European leaders who viewed it as incredibly disrespectful to the European soldiers who fought alongside US troops – particularly those who were injured or lost their lives while fighting the Taliban.
People have sometimes claimed something similar about God – that if he exists, he is standing on the sidelines of history waiting to see how things turn out. The truth could not be more different though. In Jesus we see that God not only became human for us but he even made the ultimate sacrifice of dying on a cross to secure us a permanent victory over the powers of sin and evil (Phil 2:7-8).
Whatever else you choose to stand up for this week, do not let others diminish the sacrifice of our Lord and Saviour.
Warm regards,
Gavin
