Who can you trust?
Hello
Who can be trusted anymore? What about politicians and prime ministers? Princes and presidents? Religious and social leaders? No matter where we look there seems to be a crisis in confidence when it comes to authority figures.
Life was like that even at the time of Christ. Could you really trust anyone? Jesus, as well as being gentle, caring and compassionate, was also a bit of a rebel who spoke out against oppression and injustice.
There is a notable scripture in which Jesus is described as speaking with trustworthy authority when compared to other influencers. It was just after he had spoken powerfully about how his followers ought to bring light into an increasingly dark world. Read the words for yourself in Matthew 7:28-29 (NIV): “And when Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, for he was teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes”, who sought to sway people spiritually, morally and, at times, politically.
Jesus spoke with authority, and he still does. He’s the one to listen to above all other voices.
Let’s turn to Jesus and hear what he has to say.
Best regards,
James
