I spy with my little eye something beginning with “S”. “Spies”! There they are, plain as day, walking down the high street as if they belonged here.
“Spymania” has been much in the news. The idea of someone finding out secrets about us or about our country can make us feel very uncomfortable. It feels like a threat.
Biblically speaking, there’s someone who knows us completely and from whom nothing is hidden. Nothing, not our fears, our hopes, or even our darkest thoughts. It’s not because he’s spied on us, but it’s because he became one of us, no matter who we are or what our culture is, so that he could encourage and help us. His name is Jesus, the Son of God, who understands us and who died for us. His knowing us is not a threat.
In fact, to be known by Jesus is life and hope.
