As we look at the state of the world, especially at the events in Aleppo in Syria, it’s clear that we need a champion for peace. The United States, Russia, Europe, and leaders around the globe call for peace but there is no peace. In fact, no matter where we live, everything seems more fragile, more precarious and more uncertain.
What lies ahead not just for Syria but for the whole world? Things may only get worse, but there is ultimately a hope.
I’m reminded of another time in history when fierce fighting took place in Syria and throughout the Middle East. All seemed hopeless but one man, a prophet called Isaiah, proclaimed that an unlikely champion would come and usher in an age on unending peace.
Listen to what Isaiah said:
For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 NKJV
The child is a reference to Jesus Christ, whose birth, life and coming again remain our only hope for a peace that endures.
Jesus is what this world needs because He is the Prince of Peace.
Let Him into your life now, and pray that He will come again soon.
