It’s Not Easy Being Green
by Peter Mill

It’s Not Easy Being GreenHello.

In his climate change speech to the UN this week, the Prime Minister struck a humorous note by referencing the Kermit the Frog song, It’s Not Easy Bein’ Green.

Overall, however, Boris Johnson’s tone was deadly serious, declaring that countries must take responsibility for "the destruction we are inflicting, not just upon our planet but ourselves".

The Bible tells us in Genesis 1 and 2 that when God finished the creation in all its abundant wonder, he declared it was “very good” and put the first humans into the garden to work it and keep it. Therefore, when he gave us dominion over every living thing, I do not believe he also gave us a license to pollute and destroy. Such actions fly in the face of God’s loving nature.

Mr Johnson’s speech warned of the consequences of continuing in our current reckless direction, “Our grandchildren will know we are the culprits…and they will ask what kind of people we were to be so selfish and so short-sighted”.

Let’s teach our children and grandchildren that God cares for his amazing creation and so should we.

Best wishes,
Peter Mill
