Beverley Park in the English Riviera was once again host to one of the GCI Autumn celebrations. What made this year’s event more special was that many people hadn’t seen each other for two years with the celebration being cancelled last year, amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Those attending were able to enjoy over a week of services and seminars and social activities. The caravans and lodges at Beverley Park are on the same site as services, creating a wonderful sense of community.
The theme for the celebration was Ephesians 3:14- 19, which speaks of “…how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ” (NIV). Sermons, seminars, and Bible studies were focused on this scripture. This love could be felt in a tangible way as everyone met together in an amazing atmosphere of camaraderie to experience what God had prepared for them.
A number of social events were enjoyed by everyone: a quiz evening, an afternoon tea, hymn singing, an Hawaiian-themed barbeque, and an ‘Irish House Party’ with singing dancing and poetry recitations. Over 100 people registered for the services with 140 attending the barbeque.
During the final event of the celebration – a musical soiree – David and Alberta Gibbs were presented with gifts as a token to thank them for running the Paignton celebrations over the last few years.
The celebration was a fantastic opportunity to worship, learn and spend time with those of like mind. We will be able to do this again next year as we return to Beverley Park for another week-long celebration on 1st to 9th October.">
