A light shining in the darkness
Hello.
Is there at least a glimmer of hope?
As we consider the state of the world, there seems to be so much darkness that even the faintest light is consumed by it. Think about it: territorial wars and civil conflicts, food crises and famine, disease and pandemics, both man-made and natural disasters – all these things seem to be the order of the day.
Is this happening because God is angry with us, and this is his judgment on us? Some have wondered about whether that is the case. Jesus Christ, who is called the Son of God, told us to be careful in jumping to our own conclusions. “You judge by human standards; I pass judgment on no one” (John 8:15 NIV). In fact, he explained, God’s judgment and justice is more about grace and mercy than it is about punishment and revenge.
God’s verdict on humanity is that we need a light to shine in our darkness, and that’s why he sent us his Son. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him” (John 3:16-17).
Even in today’s darkness a light is shining.
That light is Jesus.
Turn to him, latch onto salvation, and live!
Let Jesus shine!
