God’s living and enduring word
Hello.
One of the many wonderful things about God is that he carries through with his word.
Nations may rise, tumble, and fail; governments, shadow cabinets, companies, presidents, and kings may strategize, plan, and not deliver; the best-laid schemes of mice and men go often awry; “the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord endures for ever” (1 Peter 1:24-25 NIVUK).
This week much of the UK’s press coverage contained speculation on whether any of their political parties might deliver on its promises after this year’s general election.
What can we rely on in this crazy, world? For the Christian, the answer is that the only certainty in our life is Jesus Christ. He is God’s “living and enduring word” (1:23), not just a small bit player in God’s rescue plan for mankind, but Jesus is the Lord, the totality of the plan.
Rely on Jesus.
He won’t let you down.
