Keep on running
Hello.
Now that the Olympics are over, will the runners stop running, the swimmers cease swimming, and the weightlifters give up lifting weights? In other words, will there be no more training for future events?
Of course not! Many competitors have their eyes set already on Los Angeles in 2028.
The Bible compares the Christian life to a special race. It’s not about winning it through our own physical efforts. Rather it’s about how Jesus helps us past the finishing line, and how everyone who runs receives a victory crown.
In the EASY translation of Hebrews 12:1 the writer imagines that all the saints of the past and future are watching us as we run, cheering us on from the grandstands of life. “They are like a very big crowd all round us…We must be like people who run in a race. We must throw away everything that stops us from running well…God has prepared the way that is in front of us. We must continue to be strong while we run along that way. We must choose to run that race well”.
Quite an image, isn’t it?
The thought is that, with God on our side, we don’t give up mid-race.
So, keep on running!
Best regards,
James
