Hello.
This week, like so many others, we’ve been swamped with news about increasing world tensions, but, amidst all the gloom and doom, I noticed a small article about marmosets that caught my eye.
Marmosets are small monkeys, and recently research has shown that they apparently use specific calls to identify each other. This is amazing because very few species act in this way, as if they have names for each other.
In the New Testament, Jesus tells us that “the sheep recognize the voice of the true Shepherd, for he calls his own by name and leads them out, for they belong to him” (John 10:3 TPT) Our great God knows who we are. He is “the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles”, and he knows us by name and helps us individually “so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NIV).
In the words of the Gospel Singers, the McRaes:
And He knows my name
Every step that I take
Every move that I make
Every tear that I cry
He knows my name
When I’m overwhelmed by the pain
And can’t see the light of day
I know I’ll be just fine
‘Cause He knows my name [1]
Despite all the chaos our world is in, God cares for you and knows your name!
Warm regards,
Gavin
