Endorsing Jesus
Hello.
I listen to several weekly podcasts and they were dominated this week with coverage of the Presidential election debate in the US.
In one of them, the host of the podcast described how that, after the debate took place, journalists were able to interview ‘surrogates’ for the candidates. These were people who stood in for the candidate in explaining their positions and policies on TV and radio interviews.
As this was explained, I couldn’t help but think that we Christians are called to be Jesus Christ’s surrogates. To stand in for him when people ask us about who he is and what his ‘policies’ are.
Unlike political candidates, who, at best, offer a temporary fix to local and national problems, Jesus Christ came to rescue the whole world from the fundamental problem we face – our sins. In him our sins have been forgiven and we have the promise of the new creation to come.
Perhaps it is time to make your endorsement clear – vote for Jesus.
Warm regards,
Gavin
