Hello,
The UK is apparently experiencing an extended period of anti-cyclonic gloom. This is when a period of high pressure causes low clouds, mist and fog. This means that the days seem less bright and the atmosphere feels oppressive.
It is not just the weather than can experience anti-cyclonic gloom. With all the problems facing the world today it can seem like a shadow is hanging over everything.
Proverbs 17:22 tell us “A cheerful disposition is good for your health; gloom and doom leave you bone-tired.” (MSG). A life of continual pressure, anxiety and darkness is not good for us – so where do we turn to when we need hope and encouragement? Another passage of Scripture, anticipating the birth of Christ, comes to mind:
“Through the heartfelt mercies of our God,
God’s Sunrise will break in upon us,
Shining on those in the darkness,
those sitting in the shadow of death,
Then showing us the way, one foot at a time,
down the path of peace.” (Luke 1:78-79 MSG)
There is always hope to be found in Jesus.
Warm regards,
Gavin
