Restarting the communication
Hello,
I woke up to date to hear the news that there were mass delays across the British rail network. Apparently there was a communication breakdown between the drivers and the signallers, meaning that many of the trains were running late and consequently causing chaos at train stations across the country.
As I read the news report, it struck me how important communication is – without regular communication, it is so easy for things to go awry and for problems to arise. Do we communicate enough to those around us for them to understand us and vice versa? Do we spend enough time speaking with and listening to our spouses? With our parents? With God?
In 1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NIV), the Apostle Paul tells us to “pray continually”. I have always struggled with what Paul meant by praying continually – surely that is impossible? But I think what Paul was telling us in this verse was the importance of being in constant communication with God, because, when we are not, that is when the problems start to appear on the line.
Maybe’s it’s time to start up the communication again. God is listening.
Warm regards,
Gavin
