So, is this as good as it gets? A few days of fun and feasting, and, now the party’s over, it’s back to the reality of how our world really is with its tensions, wars and crises?
Christians often say that Jesus is the reason for the Christmas season but, come to think of it, Jesus is the reason for every season, and his birth provided the opportunity of a new life for all of us. The biblical book of Titus tells us that, when Jesus appeared on the scene some 2000 years ago, he offered each of us a chance for “rebirth and renewal” (3:5 NIV).
The idea is that, with Jesus, things get better. That’s not just in the future when the Prince of Peace will usher in a time of unprecedented prosperity and stability, but it’s also a message for today as we let Jesus calm our anxieties and concerns through his presence.
We don’t have to wait for the New Year to be renewed or to declare a fresh start.
Turn now to Jesus and let him begin a new life in you.
