Celebrate the love you have
Hello again,
Over the last few weeks, 64 people got into a plane and three into a helicopter in the USA and didn’t make it to their destination because the two aircraft collided; 10 people went to an adult education centre in Sweden and didn’t return home because of a mass shooting, and a 15-year-old boy went to school in Rotherham and didn’t survive the day because he was stabbed with a knife.
We can make all sorts of plans for the future, and they can be cruelly interrupted by events outside our control which is why the Bible cautions us: Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, ‘If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.’ (James 4:14-15 NIVUK).
This Friday many people are thinking of a person they love and will romantically give them a card and perhaps flowers and chocolates. But love goes beyond a romantic attraction. Why not take some time to celebrate all those you love: parents, children, grandchildren, friends, church members and many more.
Why not tell them today how much they mean to you and how they enrich your life, after all, we don’t know what will happen tomorrow and then it might be too late.
In Christian love,
Barry Robinson
