Take heart! I have overcome the world

Hello,

It was shocking to see the terrifying pictures and videos this week of the Air India flight falling out of the air shortly after takeoff. At the time of writing, it is thought that only one passenger on the plane survived the crash.

The Bible tells us of another fall that happened a long time ago – when humanity rejected and turned away from God. The result was also horrific: a world dominated by sin and death. A world where neighbours spill the blood of neighbours in an endless cycle of violence.

There is hope though. Through the life, death and resurrection of one man, there is hope for the whole world. In Jesus, God stepped into this world to take on our pain, our suffering, our sin and even death itself. In doing so, Jesus was more than just a survivor who somehow came back to life from the dead. He was a conqueror who rose victorious from the grave so that all who believe in him may have eternal life with God.

Don’t despair at the state of the world. Our future has been secured in Christ.

“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33 (NIV)).

Kind regards,

Gavin.
