Reconcile
Hello.
Reconciliation has been in the news this week.
The historic meeting between the UK’s King Charles III and Pope Leo XIV can send a message of reconciliation in a world that is seething with dissent and discontent. Of course, we continue to hope and pray for peace and reconciliation in Ukraine, the Middle East and in other trouble spots around the globe.
But is reconciliation possible in this world of opposing religions, dangerous politics, and often godless philosophies? On the surface of it, it seems unlikely. Most unlikely.
But there is hope, and the hope is to do with Jesus Christ, whose sacrifice over two thousand years ago represented the ultimate reconciliation for the whole world. “God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation”. (2 Corinthians 5:19 NIV).
Note that God has given us this message of reconciliation to share with others. Not just with different sects and divisions within Christianity itself, but also with other faith traditions, warring nations, those without faith, our own family members and within our divided communities.
Let’s continue Christ’s work of reconciliation wherever we go.
Best regards,
James
