Royal scandal
Hello,
The news this week in the United Kingdom has been filled with news about the disgraced brother of the King and whether he should retain the use of his royal titles.
In the Bible, Jesus goes by many different titles, some of them royal – teacher, Lord, Messiah, Saviour, the Holy one, Prince of peace, the Son of the Living God and even King of Kings. Yet the royal scandal in the Bible is very different from the scandal facing the British monarchy. It is the scandal of the cross.
The disgrace is that instead of Jesus being treated as the King he was (and still is) he was betrayed, tortured and crucified on a Roman cross. But this was not the end of the story – because the grave could not hold him and he rose triumphant three days later to herald the start of the new creation.
If you, like me, struggle with the injustice and evil in this world. There is hope to be found in Christ.
Kind regards,
Gavin
