Traitors

A traitor in a green cloak overlooks a lake at night.

Hello,

Last night’s final of Celebrity Traitors was the most watched show in the UK this year so far and, like many people across the country, I found myself watching with bated breath to see whether the traitors or the faithfuls would win.

Jesus Christ knew what it was like to have a traitor sitting at the table with him. What is astonishing, though, is how he treated Judas Iscariot – the man who would betray him. The Gospel accounts make it very clear that Jesus knew the identity of who would betray him. Instead of banishing Judas from the table, Jesus knelt down and washed his feet. He even included him the taking of the bread and wine where Jesus explained that his body would be broken and his blood would be shed for Judas, just as it was for all of us.

Sadly, the people in this world cannot be divided up easily into traitors and faithful. At various points in our lives we all take turns in the roles of betrayer and betrayed, faithful and faithless. The good news, however, is that Jesus alone is “a 100% faithful”.

Put your trust in Jesus – he will never let you down.

Warm regards,

Gavin
