Regime change from the skies
Hello,
Following the attack by the US and Israel against Iran this week, something the British Prime Minister said caught my attention. Speaking of whether the UK would get involved in the conflict, he made it clear that he was ideologically opposed to the concept of “regime change from the skies”.
His words reminded me of a hope that all Christians long for. In Acts 1:11, two angels appeared to tell the disciples that Jesus will return in the same way he had just been taken into heaven – on a cloud in the sky.
Our hope of course is that upon Jesus’ return there will be regime change – but not a regime change brought about by bombs and violence, but instead established by love and the unveiling of the full unresistable glory of God.
Unlike the present circumstances in Iran, where the worry is that the new leadership will be just as bad, if not worse than the old, we know that Christ’s government will be one of peace, justice and abundant life.
Maybe it is time we start praying for regime change from the skies!
Warm regards,
Gavin
