One in Christ
Hello,
With the football World Cup once again upon us, national pride is beginning to stir.
Flags are raised, anthems sung and rivalries sharpened. For a few weeks, the world will be divided neatly into groups of “us” and “them.”
So it was refreshingly different to see that after a 7-1 victory for Germany over Curaçao, players from both sides gathered together on the pitch to pray and display their faith and unity in Christ. In the word of the German goalscorer Felix Nmecha, “During the game we’re opponents, but after the game we’re Christians, so we’re brothers… We want to see Jesus glorified through the game.”
Different nations. Different stories. Different flags. Yet one Lord. Let’s follow in their example and live out the unity we already have in Christ.
“For you are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:28 ESV)
Kind regards,
Gavin
