Upcoming Services for Holy Week (2024)

This coming week is a key time in the GCI calendar. Beginning this Sunday we remember the final events that lead up to Jesus’ arrest after being betrayed by one of his closest disciples, and throughout the week we commemorate Jesus Christ’s sacrifice for us on the cross. The silence of the cross does not last though, and on Easter Sunday we rejoice in celebration that the grave could not hold Jesus. In the words of the hymn by Gloria and Bill Gaither:

“Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!”

During this period, we have a number of additional services both on a local and a national level. For those who are unable to attend a local service, we are offering a 10:25 Zoom Maundy Thursday service on the evening on the 28th of March. The following day we will have a Good Friday Crucifixion service at 11am, and on Easter Sunday we will have Resurrection services on both our 10:25 Zoom and a YouTube premiere.

You can access these services via these links:

* The Maundy Thursday service will feature communion, while you do not have to participate, if you would like to participate please have some wine and bread ready (or suitable alternatives you have to hand).
