Why God created us
“You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created.”
Revelation 4:11 (NKJV)
There was a time when I had no clue what life was all about. Never did I ask, why was I born? But I have come to know how wonderfully and fearfully I was formed in my mother’s womb (Psalm 139:14). It is a miracle of miracles. From just a tiny dot, an egg develops into a baby through various stages of growth, until all the organs and systems of the body are fully developed by the time of the birth. (Psalm 139:15-16). What a divine designer is God, our life giver. He created us in His own image and likeness (Genesis 1:26,27) to be His own children, as we learn from 1 John 3:1-2: ‘Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called children of God!…now we are children of God…when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.’
King David, who considered the heavens and the work of God’s fingers, asked the question that perhaps we should all ask: ‘What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor.’ (Psalm 8:4-5). The majority of humanity lives and dies not knowing the real purpose of life, and I too stumbled and groped in darkness, but God opened my eyes to see His glorious purpose for humanity. It is graphically revealed through Paul in Ephesians: ‘…the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints…’ (Ephesians 1:18). And in Romans Paul writes, ‘For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.’ (Romans 8:29).
Our Saviour Jesus Christ will transform our lowly bodies so that they may be conformed to His glorious body (Philippians 3:20-21). The Father Himself says, “…I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people…I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the LORD Almighty.” (2 Corinthians 6:16,18). And it is the Holy Spirit, our ‘helper’ and ‘the Spirit of truth’, who ‘…bears witness with our spirit that we are the children of God…’ (Romans 8:16).
God: Father, Son, and Spirit, created us to enter his loving relationship as His children.
Prayer
Abba Father, I cannot thank You enough for Your glorious purpose in creating us. This is Your will and You have done this according to Your pleasure. In Jesus’ name I pray and praise You. Amen.
