Lord!

The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.
Proverbs 18:10 (NKJV)

We hear of people fleeing for safety, looking for a place to hide. In the physical sense we picture a bunker or a basement, perhaps a family fleeing to a far off destination away from all the conflict. In the sense of an internal struggle, we know people turn to loved ones, professional counsellors, support groups, or churches, for example.

We all need somewhere, or someone, to turn to when we need to feel secure: our safe place in times of trouble and difficulty, confusion and uncertainty. For the believer in Jesus Christ – no matter what the physical location, no matter what the inner struggle – we can turn to Him.

What then? We turn to Him and sometimes we just don’t know what to say; perhaps we are exhausted, still frightened, full of questions!

In those moments remember the verse quoted above – His name is ‘a strong tower’ and that means we can just cry out, ‘Lord, Lord’ and we are there, in His presence, at His feet, in His arms – wherever you go when you go to the Lord.

Call on His name, and run to Him. Sometimes, it’s all we can do.

Prayer
Father, we cry out to you – Lord! So often it’s all we have, but you hear us, you know, you understand. For that, our deepest gratitude and a heart full of praise. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
