The Prince of Peace
“For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth, and the former things shall not be remembered or come into mind.”
Isaiah 65:17 (ESV)
Today, there are significant problems in the world in which we live. Most people are living and carrying on their business as if God does not exist, and Jesus is irrelevant. They do not realise that Jesus is the only solution to our troubled world. There is no other answer: no one else who can bring peace to humanity.. Isaiah prophesied, ‘For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.’ (Isaiah 9:6).
The Bible shows that the present evil age is ‘passing away’: ‘…For the present form of this world is passing away.’ (1 Corinthians 7:31). It will be replaced by a new heaven and a new earth: ‘…according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.’ (2 Peter 3:13).
And we can be absolutely certain that these things will happen because God has promised it. ‘For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.’ (2 Corinthians 1:20). Jesus is the Prince of Peace, and he will establish peace on earth in the new heavens and in the new earth.
To live one’s life as if God does not exist and Jesus is irrelevant is a colossal mistake. Why? Because God does exist and Jesus is the most relevant person in all of history, and “ ‘In him we live and move and have our being’…” (Acts 17:28). Today Christians have the opportunity of participating in the work that Jesus is doing through believers, and to continue with him when he establishes the new world order. An amazing future awaits us – ‘Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!’
Prayer
Father in heaven, please speed up the passing away of the present evil age in which we live, and hasten the return of Jesus to establish peace in the new heaven and in the new earth. Amen.
