Our miracle working God

“For with God nothing will be impossible.”

Luke 1:37 (NKJV)

The above scripture was spoken by the Archangel Gabriel to the virgin Mary regarding her conception by the Holy Spirit. Her pregnancy and giving birth to the Son of God was, indeed, a result of the impossible becoming reality.

The Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is replete with miracles that God performed for his people. Here are just a few examples:

  • The flood couldn’t stop Noah (Genesis chapters 6-8).
  • A prison couldn’t stop Joseph (Genesis chapters 39-41).
  • The Red Sea couldn’t stop Moses (Exodus chapter 14).
  • The wall of Jericho couldn’t stop Joshua (Joshua chapter 6).
  • The giant Goliath couldn’t stop David (1 Samuel chapter 17).
  • Death and the grave couldn’t stop Jesus (Matthew chapters 27, 28).

With the Holy Spirit living within us, the apostle Paul was inspired to write, ‘For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.’ (Romans 8:38-39). These words have brought much comfort to Christians down the years – especially so in times of trial and persecution.

The prophet Jeremiah, who was no stranger to trials and tribulations in his day wrote, ‘Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You.’ (Jeremiah 32:17). Most of us will never go through the kind of pain and tribulation that Jeremiah experienced, but God in his mercy delivered him out of them all.

When trials and difficulties come our way, let us have the attitude of Jeremiah, and remember his words: there is nothing is too hard for God.

Prayer
Help us, Father in heaven, to put our trust in you no matter what trial or test we face in life. Truly, no problem is too difficult for you to handle. We give you all praise and thanks for reaching out to us, in good times and bad. In Jesus’s name we pray. Amen.
