Did you ever have one of those weeks where everything comes undone? I am sure you did. This has been a week of the unexpected and the overwhelming. I set my mind to peace and organisation of my world, but only chaos and undoing was the result. Okay I said to myself, I am up to the challenge. I am just going to organise this chaos and find peace. That did not come.

There is a certain person who I love in the faith but did not really like. I confessed this to the Lord and wanted an okay about it. I set my mind to this, but God had another idea in mind. This was his answer to my question and desire for approval. What happened is that this person was put personally and directly into my life, and not only that, but was now helping me fix something that was beyond my ability. That is the answer to my question. I had set my mind on what I wanted, on what I deemed as right, but God placed this person in my path for his good reasons.

We all want to have control of our lives. I am especially one. I used to organise my spices alphabetically. If you moved something slightly, I moved it right back. I found peace in my control of things. Then God set someone in my world who reorganised me. I had to learn to give up my control for their peace, and I found that peace did not come with my control of things. It is not wrong to organise or set things in order. Our Father has control of things in this world and he does the best job ever of running his creation. We take after our Father in the desire to make this world a better place, but we need his guidance by the Spirit to do this, and in our header scripture, we have the call to life and peace that only comes to us in the Spirit of God. 

Though my week had become chaos and the unexpected, I found peace in trusting God and his wisdom and direction. Setting my mind on my ways cannot please God. Oh, he loves us dearly, but he is not always pleased with the ways we harm ourselves or others. He wants more for us than this. The good news is that we are ‘not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in’ us (Romans 8:9). God is pleased to have us as his children. That makes him incredibly happy, and it makes me happy as well.
